David E. Sladovnik
David “Dave” Errol Sladovnik was born in Dodge Nebraska on 9-AUG 1938. His parents were Edward Joe (1905-1975) and Emily Ann (Tresnak) Sladovnik (1915-1999). His siblings were Mary Alice, Richard and Paul Sladovnik.
Dave was a 1956 North Bend high school graduate, and attended college at University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He married Barbara Ann (Lang) on 23-OCT 1965 (1943-2023), at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. They had a European honeymoon and planned to reside in Michigan.
Dave entered the United States Air Force on 11-DEC 1959 in Omaha, Nebraska and reported to Lackland, Texas Airforce Base in 1960 where he attended Officer Candidate School. His career in the U.S. Air Force last 22-1/2 years, including three tours in Vietnam, navigating AC-130 gunships and B52 bombers. David was trained as a navigator and Electronic Weapons Controls.
By March 1960, David was at Harlingen Texas as a Navigator Training Aviation Cadet and on 13-Dec 1960 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant.
