KENNEDY LANDON SANDERS was born 30-JUN 1999 in Waycross GA. Her parents were Shawn L Sanders and Oneida R Sanders. Sgt. Sanders enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2019 as Horizontal Construcon Engineers (12N). Throughout her service, she demonstrated a deep commitment to her fellow soldiers and the mission.
Sanders was one of three soldiers who were killed when a one-way drone struck their container housing units at Tower 22, a small logiscs base on Jordan’s border with Syria, according to the Pentagon. The soldiers were assigned to Georgia’s 718th Engineer Company, an Army Reserve unit. The aack by an Iran-linked milia injured more than 40 service members, who had been aiding in the containment of ISIS near the Syrian border, according to the U.S. Department of Defense, which connues to invesgate the suspected Iran-backed aack.
The U.S. Army Reserve posthumously promoted Spc. Kennedy L. Sanders to the rank of Sergeant in recognion of her exceponal courage, dedicaon, and leadership during Operaon Inherent Resolve.
The promotion came in advance of the soldiers’ dignified remains transfer at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.
She is buried in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross Georgia.
