BREONNA ALEXSONDRIA MOFFETT was born 20 Jan 2001 in Savannah Georgia. Breonna attended Windsor Forest High School, and Mrs. Francine Moffett says during that time, she knew wanted to serve her country. Moffett was remembered as a natural-born leader serving as both the marching band drum major and a member of the JROTC program.
Moffett enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve on 29-APR 2019 at the age of 17. She served in Horizontal Construction Engineers (12N). Throughout her service, she demonstrated a deep commitment to their fellow soldiers and the mission.
Moffett had recently turned 23 years old when she and two other U.S. Army reservists were killed in Jordan on 28-JAN 2024, after a drone strike on their container housing unit at a support base known as Tower 22. More than 40 other soldiers who had been aiding in the containment of ISIS near the Syrian border also were injured, according to the U.S. Department of Defense, which continues to investigate the suspected Iran-backed attack.

The U.S. Army Reserve posthumously promoted Spc. Breonna Moffett to the rank of Sergeant in recognition of her exceptional courage, dedication, and leadership during Operation Inherent Resolve.
She is buried in New Zion Cemetery, Bay Springs, Mississippi.
During the memorial ceremony, Moffett’s close high school comrade Jonathan Lee lamented that she always encouraged him to speak up in class, nudging him to be more confident in participating.
