Dennis E. Kirk
Dennis E. Kirk was born 5-Nov 1956 in St. Louis MO. Dennis attended Roosevelt High School in St. Louis. After graduating from high school in June 1975, he enlisted in the Navy, primarily because he liked his older brother’s uniform. Dennis attended recruit training at Naval Training Center, Orlando FL. He then attended Gunners Mate “Rate Training” or “A” school for 11 weeks at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. After graduation Dennis became a Gunner’s Mate and departed for sea duty aboard the USS Horne CG-30 in Long Beach California.
As a Gunner’s Mate third class he was responsible for operating and maintaining the Horne’s weapons systems and small arms. Dennis was now a 19-year sailor on a modern guided missile cruiser and soon embarked San Diego for Pearl Harbor and island hopping in the Southwest Pacific for 4 months. They visited exotic destinations like Tahiti, Fiji, Guadalcanal, Rarotonga, New Guinea, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines and many other ports of call.
Master Chief Dennis Kirk retired from active duty in February 2010 having served more than 34 years in the Navy and Coast Guard. Dennis was a veteran of The Cold War, Gulf War, and War on Terror. During this timeframe, Dennis earned an MBA and Masters in Management degrees.
