Frank Cassady
Frank Cassady was born 17-MAR 1890 in Cincinnati Ohio. His parents were unknown Irish immigrants. Frank registered for the draft and reported for duty 25-JUL 1917. He served in Company B, 3rd Illinois Infantry Regiment. He was 1st cook. The 129th Infantry combined with other Illinois regiments into the 33rd Division. It was activated on July 1917 from National Guard units throughout the state. After training at Camp Logan in Texas, the majority of the 33rd Infantry Division traveled to France in May 1918. The 33rd Infantry Division was the only distinctly Illinois division that saw active service in France. Originally formed for service during World War I, the division would see action along the Western Front during the Battle of Amiens, the Battle of Hamel, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, at the Second Battle of the Somme, and at the Battle of Saint-Mihiel.
