Ronald W. Brunson
Ronald W. Brunson was born 18-DEC 1946 in Kansas City Missouri. His parents were Roy Dee Brunson (1923-2007) and Virginia L. Kluesner Brunson (1924-2008). He had one sister: Jean Bruns. Ronald attended St. Charles High School where he participated in track, football, Intramurals, a trip to New York and was a member of the Key Club.
Ronald entered the Army on 1-OCT 1968 in St. Louis Missouri. According to the Federal Census, in 1950, the family lived on Kingshighway in St. Charles. When he enlisted, he was living with his parents at 80 Barton Place in St. Charles MO.
Ronald was a Specialist 4th class. He was stationed at an Army base near Gunzberg Germany with the 510th Ordnance Company. An Ordnance company is a military unit that provides ammunition, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) services, or other support to the US and allied forces.
SP4 Ronald Brunson died 1-SEP 1969 near Gunzburg Germany, in a car accident along the highway near Laupheim, Germany. His death is classified “a Non-Battle Death.” The Overseas Certificate of Death report stated: “At approximately 0450 hours, 1 September 1969, at Laupheim, Germany, EM apparently fell asleep while driving his POV and swerved into oncoming traffic. His car was first struck by a truck, and a few minutes later by a taxi. At 1030 hours, 1 September 1969 pronounced dead by Med Off. upon arrival at hospital in Augsburg Germany.” Ronald was approximately 40 minutes from his base in Gunzburg when the accident occurred.
His parents were notified via Western Union Message 2-SEP 1969. He had never married. Ronald W. Brunson is buried at St Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles Missouri.
