Rebecca Ann Abbott

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Abbott was born 31-DEC 1982.  Her parents were Gloria Stukenbroeker and Kevin Abbott.  She had five siblings: Kelly, Elizabeth, Amanda, Robert, and Matthew.  Becky graduated from Ritenour High School, class of 2001. Following graduation, she joined the US Army.

She served first as a Military Police Corrections Specialist (MOS 31E).  MOS 31E is an Internment/Resettlement Specialist primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement or correctional facility or detention or internment facility.

Rebecca then served as a Human Intelligence Collector (MOS 35M).  Army Human Intelligence Collector (MOS 35M) is responsible for the collection of pertinent enemy and battle information from people. A highly trained individual in this role will be required to make connections, complete interrogations, and use many tactics to receive information in both docile and hostile situations.

Rebecca served one tour in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. During her career, she was stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky, Fort Leavenworth Kansas, Joint Base Lewis McChord Washington, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, the 7th Army Training Command in Grafenwoehr, Germany and Fort Hood Texas.

She retired with the rank of Sergeant 1st Class (E-7). Her husband was Anthony Work.  During Becky’s meritorious Army career, she earned the following medals and ribbons:

  • Bronze Star
  • Army Commendation Medal 4th award
  • Army Achievement Medal 5th award
  • Army Good Conduct Medal 5th award
  • Global War on Terrorism Medal
  • National Defense Service Medal
  • Meritorious Unit Commendation
  • Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/2 Stars
  • Iraq Campaign Medal w/1 Star

Rebecca Ann Abbott died 18-MAR 2023.  She is buried in Jefferson Barracks National cemetery.
