Missouri Veterans History Project Joins Mid America Veterans Museum
[St. Louis, MO] – August 27, 2025 – Missouri Veterans History Project (MVHP) has officially joined Mid America Veterans Museum (MAVM), combining their efforts to preserve, honor, and share the stories of our veterans from across the Midwest.
Missouri Veterans History Project has long been dedicated to recording and archiving the oral histories of veterans, ensuring their service and sacrifices are remembered for future generations. By joining MAVM, MVHP will expand its reach and integrate these invaluable histories into the museum’s exhibits, programs, and educational resources by bringing over 1800 oral histories to the museum.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Missouri Veterans History Project into the Mid America Veterans Museum,” said Mike Stagoski, Board president. “Their work in preserving the voices of veterans aligns perfectly with our mission to honor and educate. Together, we will ensure these powerful stories are not only safeguarded but shared with audiences of all ages.”
As part of MAVM, MVHP volunteers will continue collecting veteran interviews while also collaborating on exhibits, community events, and educational initiatives that bring history to life. This partnership enhances MAVM’s role as a living resource where history, memory, and education meet across Missouri and beyond.
“Missouri Veterans History Project has always been about ensuring that the voices of veterans are heard and remembered,” said Jill Alexander, MVHP Board chairperson. “By joining MAVM, we gain a lasting home for these stories and new opportunities to connect with the public while adding the ability to collect artifacts. We thank all of our volunteers past and present, including founding Board member Jill Schupp and our donors, for their contributions building our collection. We invite everyone to visit MAVM as we continue to preserve history one story at a time.”
Mid America Veterans Museum is committed to preserving the legacy of veterans through exhibits, events, and educational outreach. The addition of MVHP strengthens that mission by ensuring veterans’ personal accounts remain at the forefront of how history is told. MVHP oral histories will continue to be held at the State Historical Society of Missouri where they are available to researchers.
