Preserving Stories That Must Never Be Forgotten

Every veteran carries a story of courage, sacrifice, resilience, and service. At the Mid America Veterans Museum, we ensure those stories are not lost to time.

Through exhibits, interviews, and community engagement, we preserve history through the voices of those who lived it.

With the support of dedicated leaders and volunteers, we share and preserve veterans’ stories in these meaningful ways:

• Preserved 650+ veteran stories
• Conducted 2000+ Veteran History Project interviews
• Newly created Operation Insight conducted 36 interviews and released 24 podcast episodes in 2025, and is on target to beat this in 2026
• Created 250+ exhibits that educate and inspire our community

This work is only possible because of individuals who believe in something greater than themselves.

Board Leadership Opportunity

Serving on the Board of Directors is an opportunity to make a lasting impact—not only on the museum, but on the community and future generations.

Board members play a vital role in:

• Guiding the museum’s strategic direction
• Strengthening community partnerships
• Advocating for the preservation of veteran stories
• Supporting fundraising and long-term sustainability
• Ensuring the mission remains strong and impactful

Who Should Consider Serving

We are intentionally building a board that reflects both experience and passion.

We welcome individuals with backgrounds in:

• Business leadership
• Nonprofit governance
• Marketing and communications
• Fundraising and development
• Community engagement
• Veteran advocacy

You do not have to be a veteran to serve.

We are seeking both:

Board Member Expectations

To ensure meaningful engagement and impact, board members are expected to:

• Attend monthly board meetings
• Actively participate in at least one committee
• Support fundraising efforts and donor engagement
• Serve as an ambassador for the museum in the community
• Contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization
